Thank you for your interest in Dwight Seoul.  We are now accepting applications for the 2024 - 2025 academic year. 

Families are welcome to submit applications to our ECD, Lower and Upper Schools.

Dwight School Seoul is the First IB Continuum School in Seoul

Dwight School Seoul is the only school selected by the Seoul Municipal Government to open a model IB World School in Seoul. 

Dwight School Seoul seeks to ensure that all students admitted to our school are eligible under the Korean law for admission into foreign schools. Dwight’s Admissions Policy outlines these requirements and our internal procedures to ensure all students admitted to Dwight School Seoul are in full compliance with the law.

Admissions Policy

Dwight School Seoul provides an international education to the highest recognized academic standards. We are committed to finding and igniting the “spark of genius” in EVERY child. Dwight is a Preschool 3 through Grade 12, highly selective, college preparatory school with a strong commitment to developing globally-aware, compassionate, and motivated students who will contribute to our diverse school community. We prepare our students to become global leaders through an educational model that emphasizes global vision, personalized learning, and community. Our goal is to nurture and develop student leaders who show the courage to take intellectual risks using the skills to communicate and work effectively with others. We seek dynamic, open-minded and responsible students whose desire to learn is heightened by their engagement with peers and our dedicated faculty.

Requirements
Students are eligible for admission to Dwight School Seoul if they meet one of the following criteria and can provide documents outlined below.


One or both parents hold foreign passport:

  • Copy of valid passport title page of child, father and mother
  • Copy of child’s birth certificate and or Korean Family Registry
  • Copy (front/back) of parents’ valid Alien Registration Card


Both parents hold Korean passports (including those who hold dual passports):

  • Copy of valid passport title page of child, father and mother
  • Copy of child’s Korean Family Registry
  • Student’s Certificate of Entry and Exit to support that the student has spent 1,095 days or more outside of Korea (reference period from birth)
  • If student is a dual citizen, copies of both passports, and Certificate of Entry and Exit for both passports must be provided


One or both parents are naturalized Korean citizens whose child is deemed unable to continue enrollment by the Head of their respective school in conformity with the standards and procedures prescribed by Presidential Decree in Article 60-2 (1) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

  • Copy of valid passport title page of the child, father and mother
  • Copy of child’s Korean Family Registry
  • Original identification Certificate (기본증명서) of the parents
  • Original letter issued by the Head of the local school confirming deliberation according to the Act

Admissions Process

Submit Application

Submit the online application and pay the application fee, KRW100,000.

Submit all supporting documentation. The following documentation is required:
• Copy of applicant’s passport
• Copy of parents’ passports
• Copy of applicant’s and parents’ Alien Registration Cards (Foreign passport holders only)
• Copy of family registry or birth certificate (a document that proves the relationship between the parent and the child)
• Entry/Exit Statement of the student (3 years overseas applicants only)
• Entry/Exit Statement of parents (3 years overseas applicants only)
• New Student Health Form
• Transcripts (academic records) for the current year plus previous two years
• Confidential Teacher Recommendation Form
• Early Childhood Division (ECD): Applicants for preschool (PS) and kindergarten (K) should submit a report or recommendation from any current or previous school attended when applicable
• Lower School applicants (grade 1 through 5) submit one from the current homeroom teacher
• Upper School applicants (grades 6 through 12) submit two: one must come from the applicant’s current English language arts teacher and an additional subject teacher such as Math teacher
• Application for school bus service (if applicable)
• Applicant Questionnaire (grades 6 through 12 only)
• Diploma Programme Course Selection Form (grades 11 and 12 only)

Transcripts – school records and documents must be submitted directly from the current school to Dwight. If the transcripts and recommendations are not completed in English, an official translation must also be provided.

Interview & Assessment

Once application, application fee and all supporting (required) documents have been received, an interview and admissions assessment will be arranged. This part of the process can last between 1.5 – 2 hours.

DP Students applying to Grade 11 and Grade 12 (Diploma Programme) must attend an additional interview with the Upper School Principal and the IB Diploma Coordinator.

Applicants from overseas: If a student is applying from overseas and is unable to come to Dwight to complete the in-person interview and admissions test, an interview will be conducted via Zoom or Google Meet and a teacher or counselors at the applicant’s current school can administer the test.

Review & Evaluation

Please note that the applicant’s family is responsible for confirming that the application is complete. The Admissions Office will not review incomplete applications.

Upon completion of the interview and admissions assessment, the application will be evaluated by the Admissions Committee. In some cases, however, further action may be required.
• The applicant may be required to spend an additional day on campus to undergo further assessment. Observation and recommendations may be sought from a variety of specialist teachers.
• If the previous reports or the Confidential Teacher Recommendation Form indicate behavioral problems, the previous school will be contacted for clarification and further information pertaining to the student’s issues.
• If the previous reports or admissions test indicate learning difficulties, the Quest Coordinator will interview and/or formally assess the student and advise as to whether Dwight School Seoul is the correct placement for the student and whether the school can adequately support the student’s needs.

Diploma Programme (Grades 11 and 12): English as an Additional Language is not available in the Diploma Programme and learning support is limited to time management and study skills support only.

Offers of admission are at the discretion of the Principals and Head of School. When considering an application, a holistic view of the child is taken including a review of academic records, behavior records, recommendations from previous schools, involvement in extracurricular activities, community service work, and attitudes towards learning.

Once a decision has been made, parents will be contacted and informed by email through Open Apply.
